Daniel T. Kelly, Sr. was a successful businessman who also devoted his efforts to assist scientific, literary and historical organizations. He became president of the Archaeological Society of New Mexico and of the Board of Regents of the Museum of New Mexico in 1930 and a member of the SAR board in 1931. He served on the board of SAR from 1931 until his death in 1973.
