Mary Bryan Forsyth corresponded with Mari Sandoz about Sandoz's books, creating a portrait of Crazy Horse from her description and illustrating Love song to the Plains. She also created the bust of Sandoz that is in the Nebraska Hall of Fame. She wrote Gift of the American Indian, but it was not published.
Forsyth lived with her husband in Chappaqua, New York, moving to Pecos, New Mexico in the 1970s. She was the granddaughter of William Jennings Bryan. She donated her collection of Sandoz's published books to the SAR Library.
